5 Ways to Keep Your Skin Hydrated This Winter - January Skincare Saviours

Winter can play havoc on our skin leaving it looking dull and feeling parched. It’s cold and damp outside but warm and dry indoors - the perfect environment for dry cracked lips and dehydrated skin.  We’ve all turned up the central heating which is another hydration zapper.

The result = thirsty face!
They don’t call it Dry January for nothing!

If you’re signed yourself up to simply having dry skin during winter, it’s for a re-think.

We’re here today with our top tips on how to say “buh-bye” dryness and “hello” more radiant and plumper looking skin.

Top 5 January Skincare Saviours

  1. It’s time to spritz and GO

You should be eating as many water-rich fruits and vegetables as you can during the winter months to hydrate skin cells from within. And it goes without saying, that a daily collagen shot will 100% help! But other tried and tested skincare tips to help boost skin hydration and deliver on the spot relief for dryness, include spritzing skin with a hydrating facial mist.

We like to keep a bottle on our desk as well as in our gym bag for a convenient complexion spritz on bare skin or even over makeup. Look for a formula that contains Aloe Vera and it will also take you through to Summer too, quenching skin no matter what the weather.

  1. Easy on the SHOWER

We get it! Nothing beats a long, hot, steamy shower, especially on a cold and damp January morning.

But the hotter the shower, the drier your skin will become.

Now we’re not suggesting you go for an ice bath! But keep your showers short and warm rather than long and hot during the winter. A body oil is also your friend during the colder months. Apply while skin is still damp to lock in moisture before towel drying and dressing for the day.

  1. Treat yourself to a weekly hydrating FACIAL MASK

A deeply nourishing and hydrating mask like Reverse Life’s 24k gold collagen soaked mask is perfect to include as part of a weekly skincare ritual. Not only does it plump the skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, it’s also a pampering home treat that forces you to slow down and unwind for 20-minutes.

We like to think of it as essential self-care.

Why not try a spot of “multi-masking”. Pop your mask on, pick out your favourite podcast, then simply kick back and relax as the mask restores radiance and boosts your mood.

  1. Take your skin to overnight REHAB

Hands and feet often get neglected during the winter months so it’s time to indulge in a little bit of what we refer to as “sock-and-glove” therapy!

You guessed it, you’re going to need a pair of cotton socks and some thin cotton gloves. Now grab your favourite high street moisturiser. It doesn’t need to be a super expensive one. Good old Vaseline will do the trick. Slather your hands and feet, pop on your socks and gloves, then enjoy a great nights sleep. You’ll wake up with baby soft hands and feet having hopefully also slept like a baby too.

  1. Resist the urge to lick your LIPS

You just licked them didn’t you? LOL. It’s so tempting when your lips are dry to lick them but did you know that the enzymes present in our saliva breaks down dry lips even further? It’s a vicious circle that can only be “cracked” by generously applying a moisturising lip balm.

We can’t get enough of the stuff. There’s currently a lip balm on our desk, dashboard of our car, bedside dressing table and in the downstairs loo! What can we say, we like to keep our lips hydrated at all times.

Well, with Valentines around the corner, we might get lucky!

So there you have it! Our top 5 tips on how to keep skin hydrated this winter.
